That's just how easy it is. In the past, employees just like you have showed the county how to save money and they have been rewarded in cash of up to $35,000!!

The Employee Suggestion Awards (ESA) Program was negotiated by the Coalition of County Unions.

The ESA Program rewards county employees with cash, United States Savings Bonds or merchandise awards for suggestions that reduce or avoid spending of public money; result in increased revenues; or, result in measurably improved efficiency in the county.

Types of suggestions wanted

Suggestions that will:

  • Save time, labor, space, material, or supplies.
  • Improve service to the public.
  • Improve methods or procedures resulting in increased productivity and or efficiency.
  • Improve tools or equipment.
  • Eliminate unnecessary problems, records, forms.
  • Conserve energy.
  • Make possible the decrease, elimination, or avoidance of spending public funds.

In the years between 1989 and 2002, the county implemented 477 suggestions that saved the county over $10 million dollars. In two specific instances, employees received cash awards of over $17,000 and another for over $12,000.
